[She shrugs a shoulder, moving to squeeze around him to grab the milk out of the fridge.]

We talked about it a little, but... it didn't seem like the best plan. Not right away, especially. You know, he was still trying to get a handle on what all this meant for him, and how to control everything. You know how often his control would slip if he got freaked out, and everyone in the room would start feeling it? It took a while to stop doing that, he's a lot better with it now. And he had somebody there who understood it a lot better, and I wasn't going to be home much to begin with to help him, so...

[She leans back against the counter next to him as she settles into place again, thoughtful.] Anyway, it worked out. He's happy now. I guess it's where he was supposed to be.

[He listens to her carefully, seems like she downplays her involvement quite a bit. He remembers watching them back when they were all in the house together. Isaac would barely move and she would just know something was wrong and move over to him, making it so that she was the only thing he could see and talk to him, calm him down. It was like they were in their own little world. Sasha can't imagine Izzy finding anyone who understands him better.

Moving closer to her, he puts a hand out, resting it on her side.] I bet he misses you like a limb. Just cause people can live with one arm, doesn't mean everything wasn't easier with two.

[Rubs his thumb against her hip bone thoughtfully.] Glad he's happy though. He on his own too?

I know. [There's a lot of things she has doubts about, but for the most part, her brother's love for her isn't one of them. She knows he wouldn't give up his life now for anything, not even to come be with her again, but that doesn't mean she isn't still important to him. It's more complicated these days, but it's never gone away.

She says it with a little smile, though, leaning into him. She appreciates it anyway.]

Married to his soulmate. [As much as it's a little bittersweet, and she meant what she told the older him about it feeling weird -- there's nothing but happiness for him there.] He's a nice guy. They're good together.

Married? Already? [He can't help the shock in his voice. He doesn't think he was gone that long -- now that she's said it, he does vaguely remember reading it in the notes. He must have just met him in everyone's current timeline.

It's not that he's that surprised, Izzy has always been a bit of a lover boy, he's just thrown that it happened so fast. Was it because they are soulmates? Surely that can't be the answer to everything. Doesn't anyone just marry for love instead of doing whatever that stupid mark says?]

As long as he's happy...[He doesn't mean to sound bitter. It's just hard to come back to all these changes, especially when he's still trying to fight against a future that he feels is already here.]

Yeah. Didn't really plan it or anything. They only knew each other a few days.

[She rolls her eyes, but fondly, amused more than anything. The smile fades a little when he speaks again though, glancing over and then slipping closer to him, wrapping an arm around his waist. A little reminder that he's here now, that no matter how complicated things can be (are, will continue to be) she's here for him.]

He was happy to see you, too. [Because no matter what happens, no matter the fact that Imogene's always known things are going to end between them someday, considering the way the older version of him was with her from the beginning -- Sasha's always going to have a place in their lives. Neither of the twins are good at letting go of people they love these days.]

[That makes more sense, at least given the timeline but it doesn’t make sense why he would get married. Being soulmates doesn’t just mean automatically being in love. They could have waited, gotten to know each other better. It seems even more baffling that Imogene is okay with it. But he can’t really be upset if she isn’t.

He slides his hand around to her waist, thumb still rubbing gently up and down.] I’ll try to visit him next time. Maybe.

[There isn’t much actual promise in it. If he had a choice of being here or there the next time he comes back, he’s definitely picking here.]

Maybe we'll get lucky, things will line up while I'm visiting next time. The three of us can hang out for a little while. [It's unlikely, but she can hope. She presses a kiss into his shoulder, nuzzling into him, giving up on any attempt to keep her distance and just curling into his side.]

You should do that anyway. I’m sure it would be nice. [He doesn’t normally create positive experiences for his later versions so the fact he is suggesting it speaks to how much he cares about the twins. It would likely be very nice for the three of them to be together again, he’d like to think it happens even if he’s not directly a part of it.]

And you’re coming back after school right? So it should line up for all of us eventually.

Yeah. I kind of figured we would. [But it's always different when it's this version of him. For her, anyway. It's not just the physical part, she's always felt like he held her at a little more distance when he's older.]

I am. As soon as I can manage it. So I'm sure we'll figure it out.

[It just might be different, a year down the line in the her timeline, and she doesn't really want to take that chance. She's always assumed that there'll come a linear point where things stop between them, the same way there's a point in his personal timeline. She'd assumed it was when he left, but apparently not; that doesn't mean it isn't on its way.]

Definitely. [Even though the way he wraps both his arms more fully around her suggests he’s afraid of the very same things.] I’ll keep coming to find you. No matter what is happening in this time. We can be together, for as long as you want me.

[His later versions might have Lyn but that doesn’t mean he can’t still have Imogene. Nevermind the fact she might want a life, and a lover who isn’t only here for a few moments at a time. He’s only thinking about how much he doesn’t want to lose this, doesn’t want this to be the last time, just trying to make sure it isn’t.]

I don't think I'm going to stop wanting you.

[It's a quiet confession, a little bit guilty. She's pretty sure if it was going to get out of her system, the time apart would have done it. It's just not at easy as that.]

Then I’ll be here. As long as I can. [He squeezes her a little tighter, pressing a kiss to the top of her head, knowing that he unfortunately can’t promise forever. They both know it isn’t true.]

I’d tell you not to get any hotter while I’m gone, but I don’t think it’s possible…I mean, Genie…wow. [Another attempt to make her happy but it’s also true. He’s still in shock by how she looks. He was in shock when they were younger and she was into him. Now it’s just unbelievable.]

[The change startles a laugh out of her, blushing a little as she leans back enough to look at him.] I don't think I've changed that much, did I?

[It doesn't feel like it anyway, part of her feels like she's been the same inside and out for years. The only difference is that she's a little paler and a little more stressed every time she looks in the mirror. But it's always harder to see it in yourself anyway, even when you don't have the benefit of years added on.]

[He pulls back a little to look at her, letting the attraction he feels show on his face, not at all trying to hide it when his eyes trail down her body to look at her again.]

More than I could have imagined. It’s absolutely life changing. [The fact she’s interested in him at all? He’s the luckiest guy alive.]

[They rolled out of bed much too recently for that to get to her as much as it does, a shiver running through her, heartbeat picking up a little. She's always been easier for the attention than she'd like to admit, and his eyes on her feels like a physical presence.

She swallows, trying and mostly failing to tamp down her reaction, leaning in to press a kiss to his cheek, his jaw, soft and affectionate.] You're sweet.

I wasn’t trying to be sweet. [The later versions of him are there for her if she wants sweet. He turns his head, catching her lips in a kiss, clear that it isn’t just her feeling that heat.]

Genie, you drive me fucking crazy. [He all but growls it against her lips. It’s not just that they haven’t seen each other for a while, or the fact that she looks so good, especially in his shirt, it’s just always been like this between them, a flame that never goes out.]

[She really should have guessed he wouldn't let her get away with that. She's never been great at hiding it, not when they're together, and there's really no point in trying as soon as he kisses her. She groans against his mouth at the way he sounds, arms tightening around him.]

You too. Fuck, you always do.

[He smiles against her lips, pleased by her reaction, almost proud of himself for being able to still pull a groan from her even after the night they’ve had already. He moves one of his hands to hold the back of her head, tangling into her hair, the other still firmly against her waist.] Even if I wear matching striped pajamas?

As long as I get to take them off of you.

[She's going to make herself dizzy from the emotional back-and-forth, from the way she keeps sliding back into acting like when they were younger again -- well, like she's younger again, anyway. But she's not sure she could stop herself if she tried, and she doesn't really want to, would rather block out all the doubts for a little while. Or if she can't do that, she can at least keep pressing up against him, kissing him harder, hands flat against his back to keep him close.]

[Even without the hands on his back he would still stay close, the feel of her pressed against him so intoxicating he isn’t even trying to pull away, if anything he just wants to be closer, his own hands holding her tight. He doesn’t feel as rushed, even if the desire is no less potent, the longer he’s there, the more he can convince himself they’ve got time, even if the opposite is probably true. At least they can say that they definitely made the most of it.]

[It's hard to stop, knowing that eventually something's going to intrude -- whether that's him traveling again, or life outside this apartment. But she does manage to pull away eventually, even if she isn't going far, nuzzling into his throat, kissing softly at the side of his neck even as she points out:] Didn't you want to eat?

[When she pulls away, he tries to follow, nuzzling into her hair when she moves down to his throat. He laughs slightly at her question, voice a little breathless when he replies.] Eventually…I got distracted.

Sorry. [She doesn't sound remotely sorry, following down the line of his neck to his collarbone, teeth scraping gently over the spot below before she asks:] Can I?

[She's always been careful about asking before leaving any marks behind, doing anything that will linger to affect other versions of him. Deep down she almost feels bad for it, because she knows her Sasha doesn't really think twice about leaving the mess behind for others to handle, and she's just doing it to ease her own guilt -- but that's never really stopped her before.]

[His first thought when Genie asks to leave a mark is frustratingly about Lyn. He doesn’t really know the nature of the relationship his later versions are having with her currently, but he also doesn’t care. Nothing he does will have a lasting effect anyway, but he can at least make shit difficult. He hums an affirmative.] Somewhere visible. I want to see it.

Okay. [He doesn't have to say anything else to convince her; she's redirecting immediately, sucking a greedy, biting kiss right above the pulse in his throat. She wouldn't do it if she knew it'd be risking something important to any version of him. But she's still in the dark about that, and stupidly, pettily, she likes the idea of giving him a reason to think about her when he leaves here. When he's past the point where he's hers.

Sometimes she really wonders if the two of them were terrible for each other, if she actually brings out the worst in him no matter how much she wants to help. If maybe that's why he left.]
